Paranormal Phenomena

Mysterious Phone Call
by Barbara

Many years ago, when married to my first husband (1976-1979), I received a telephone call about 4:20 a.m. It was my elder brother telling me he had just gotten married. The call woke up my husband and I spoke with my brother for about five minutes. I hung up and went back to sleep. About a week or so later, I was visiting at my mother's home and this same brother was there with his wife. I thanked him for calling me... and I got this odd stare and his mouth fell open. He told me he had called our mother, but he had never called me at all. I turned to my mother and she related the entire conversation she had had with him, and then I related the entire conversation I had had with him - and these conversations were literally identical and at the exact same time.

Ghostly Experiences
by Lora H.

I've had several experiences with ghosts in my life, I'll try to fit them all in!
First of all, our family used to live in my grandmother's house, in an upstairs apartment. This house is quite old (not sure how old) and I was told that it was once a hospital. There is a staircase that comes from my grandmother's living room, up to a hallway with a couple of bedrooms and then another hallway leading to the upstairs apartment. As a child, I used to climb those stairs very slowly and then race through the halls until I got to our place. I've never felt very comfortable in that first hall, always felt like I wasn't alone, like I was being watched. I'd also get that feeling in my grandma's bedroom. I didn't like being there especially when I was alone.
My grandfather died was I was five or six years old. I used to follow him around - he called me his little shadow. A few days after he died, I woke up and saw him standing beside my bed. I screamed and he disappeared and I've never seen him since. Grandma also had an experience with him. She had an early morning appointment one day and she forgot to turn on the alarm clock. At precisely the moment the alarm should have gone off, she felt a hand on her arm, gently shaking her awake. My grandpa was a very punctual man!
I used to work in a hospital, one of my jobs was to wash the supper dishes. The kitchen was in the basement of the building and by the time the dishes came down the service elevator, I would be totally alone down there. On two separate occasions, I heard someone whistling a short cheery little tune. Both times I looked around expecting to see one of the nurses or ambulance attendants, but no one was ever there.
While going to college, I lived in a basement apartment of a house. My landlords, who lived upstairs, always took holidays down south during the winter, so I'd have the house to myself with instructions to look after the upstairs as well. Several times I'd be downstairs studying or something and I'd hear someone walking around upstairs. The first time I assumed it was their son. He told me he would be coming by, so I went upstairs to say hello and no one was there. Every time I'd hear them, I'd go up and check and no one was ever there.
One of my pets became very sick with a viral pneumonia and eventually I had to put her to sleep. I was heartbroken and feeling very guilty, I bawled my eyes out all the way back to my parents place. I stopped on the side of the road just before I got there to try and compose myself a little. Suddenly I felt a slight pressure on my shoulder and a wonderful feeling of comfort came over me. I knew that she had come back and sat on my shoulder like she used to, to tell me that everything was now ok. It made me feel so much better!

The Haunted Schoolhouse
by Matt M.

It seems like every town of decent size has the old haunted schoolhouse, and ours was no exception. This was an old four-story schoolhouse that had a terrible fire some years before, and the top floor was completely destroyed. The legend was that two little girls had dies in the fire, which naturally my friends I laughed at.
One night at about 1:00 a.m., two friends and I decided to pay a visit to this supposed haunted school. I was intrigued by the idea of ghosts, but was treating this whole excursion as a fun little thing to do in the middle of the night and nothing else. We entered through the ground floor, using our flashlights to guide us through the darkness, and making a point of avoiding the basement that looked a little too spooky for our liking. The interior of the school was warm, not uncomfortable at all on this summer night. We went up to the third floor, which was the last floor with a ceiling still on it. We wandered through various, seeing desks and tables among other trash, and could definitely tell how some misguided person could think this place was haunted.
We went down to the second floor, on our way out. Suddenly, from the staircase at the far end of the school, we heard a huge crashing noise, the sound of something heavy falling down the steps. The three of us immediately froze, turning off our flashlights and standing dead still for what seemed like an eternity, but was probably more like two minutes. We heard no other sounds after this crash, but we assumed some clever person must have pushed one of the desks from upstairs down the steps.
We walked straight over to the stairway, and there was nothing there. Just some tiles. Nothing that could have possible made a noise that loud. Needless to say at that point we hotfooted it out of there. We got to the ground floor, and it was freezing cold. Milt (definitely not his real name) and I looked at each other, and we both knew something strange was going on. As we got to the exit, we turned to look behind us. Down the hallway, near the stairs, I saw a shadow detach itself from the wall and move toward us. Hard to describe, but that's what it looked like. At that point, we sprinted past our third friend who was more than a bit confused by how white we looked. (Especially Milt, who's black.)
We eventually did go back there, and never encountered anything quite this strange, although there always seemed to be something odd going on there. Why we went back I'll never know, but now that I'm older and wiser I don't see it happening again!

Bigfoot Encounter
by Campbells

My friends Jack and Harry were hiking in California. One night they camped on the mountainside. Sometime near midnight, Jack woke up absolutely terrified. He woke up Harry to find the time - it was midnight. Jack did not know why he felt so scared. He finally reached the point where he could not stand the terror and panic.
Jack decided to go outside the tent. He crawled outside and stood up. Not 20 feet in front of him was a 7- 8-foot figure. It stood there looking at him, leaning forward a bit, looking like a bear. Jack has seen bears; he's had bears get right in his face and "woof" at him - he knew this was no bear. He was completely paralyzed with fear. The thing just stood there, its human-like face staring. The eyes were deep sockets, and the head was small compared to the rest of the body. The ears stood out, like human ears. Even in the dark, anyone could tell this was not your common beast.
Harry called from the tent, "Jackie! What do you see? What's out there?" Jackie called back, "I don't know! I don't know!" Harry called back again, "Oh, well I'm gonna stay in here!" Jack knew he couldn't stay here all night. He forced himself to move. He went back into the tent and got the flashlight. Crawling back out, he turned his back to the thing, he whirled around to face it. The thing was gone. In the morning, they went outside and found that something had been through their camp. The tent was completely in tact, not a stake out of place. The firepit was demolished, everything lay scattered. Jack nearly denies what he saw. Was it Bigfoot? A logger? A bear? He doesn't know. I believe it was Bigfoot.
